The mission is simple: find out your limiting beliefs and replace them with positive ones. Nurture and reinforce your growth mindset.

But to do this, mere reading is not enough. Here is our 4-step DISC method that will help you in rewiring your beliefs.

1. Define: Where do you want to be? Where are you right now?

  • Define both desired future state and current state

  • Alternatively, list down goals by life roles, like as a parent, partner, citizen, etc.

2. Identify: What limiting beliefs are blocking your growth?

  • Find out the thoughts and beliefs that make the goal seem out of reach

  • Often, people are blind to their own beliefs, so find out what your family and peers believe, as most of our beliefs come from our environment

  • This could even include seemingly harmless ideas like, “don’t be overambitious,” “spread your wings only as much as your circumstances allow,” “raising a good family is a girl’s ultimate goal,” etc.

  • Caution: Answers like “lack of knowledge” do not qualify as limiting belief

3. Stretch: Replace your limiting beliefs with positive beliefs that stretch your boundaries

  • Form new beliefs. Write it down in a journal, sticky notes, or set as wallpaper

  • Feel free to use good beliefs from an internet search or from your idols

  • Repetition is key. Remind yourself of the new beliefs by putting them in a place of high visibility

4. Challenge: Make it a fact-based fight between old and new beliefs. Weaken the limiting beliefs while strengthening the growth beliefs

  • The most impactful proof comes from our life. Gather evidence from your past experience where your limiting belief was proven wrong, or your new belief was right

  • Find out events from other people’s life that prove the limiting belief wrong or positive belief right, e.g., the rise of Cristiano Ronaldo from extreme poverty to global stardom due to his hard work

  • Take actions based on your new belief, for example, “girls are more than a mother and wife,”

  • Celebrate small wins whenever you prove your new belief right

Next time, you see yourself slacking in an important task, ask yourself: Why do I not believe in myself? Your success is your responsibility.

Identifying your limiting beliefs and forming new ones is important, but still, there is no replacement for reinforcing the growth beliefs. Repetition is core to the effectiveness of your DISC system.

We are in this together. Let’s do it!
