Prepare

As you follow the steps by Ericsson for deliberate practice, here are some suggestions that can you get started:

1. Define

  • Define success criteria, and ask, “What do I need to learn to get there?”

2. Pace

  • Go slow. Give enough time to each improvement, no matter how small

  • Stick to a routine. Schedule sessions in advance

  • Limit sessions to a reasonable time to ensure maximum focus

3. Feedback

  • What gets measured, gets improved. Track even the smallest changes

  • Get feedback and external perspective from coach or colleagues

  • Plan, reflect, and take notes. In each session, see what worked and what didn’t
