The goal is to overcome biases in our worldview with the additional perspective of mental models. And there is only one way to make mental models a way of life: Practice.
Here are two aspects of practice as you start:
1. Personalize:
The strength of mental models lies in their wide application in daily life
The more you try, the easier it gets to see how a mental model fits a situation next time
Try using mental models in daily things, for example, use inversion in your diet, studies, etc.
2. Go slow:
Use mental models for analysis and tough decisions, where you are already slowed down
As soon as your mind jumps to a conclusion, use it as a cue to take the extra step of applying a mental model next. Slow down and rethink. Respond, not react
Feel free to make sticky notes or write briefs on your phone to refer to anytime. Slowly, using mental models will become your second nature 😊
