Regardless of the differences in their beliefs and rituals, it is amazing how all the religions agree on the importance of “praying.” When was the last time you took some time out for a prayer? And what if you are agnostic or atheist? Ok, before you start doubting our intentions, we will jump straight to the matter.
On this Kosmik journey, we consider you an explorer, someone willing to seek what life has to offer, and there is something great to be learned from the religions which have been around for centuries. While the ideologies may vary from one religion to another, the practice of taking time out to praise some form of divine energy is almost everywhere.
In the end, religion is a way of life to bring order to its followers, and in Kosma, we wonder if the founders of religions knew that people need practice to look at the bright side of life (wink-wink, negativity bias). So, they made it a mandatory part of the religious rituals to offer prayers. Yes, there may be many other reasons, but gratitude seems to be the core objective of prayer, be it by praising the sacrifices of someone, or the bounty we are showered with. Maybe we will never know the truth, but this should not stop us from making our prayers more effective.
If you follow a religion, we have a suggestion: The next time you find yourself praying, be it at home or another location, devote a part of it to count your blessings. And as always, appreciate even the most obvious things, from good health to a happy family. Not only would this strengthen your positivity muscle, but you might even make your elders happier if they have been worried about why do not pray. Win-win 😉
And if you feel hesitant to follow this, maybe due to the image you carry in front of others, or disbelief in God, remember, in the end, it is just meant as a piece of advice to increase the time you spend thinking about the positives. All that we wish for you is less negativity bias (not zero, as it is good for you at times). If you can incorporate gratitude in your praying time, you will get to practice it more often. But if you cannot, then the good old gratitude journal is always there 😊
More power to you!
