As we noted earlier, the happiest people are not the ones who achieve the most, but the ones who spend most of their time in a state of flow. And this state is best induced when you care about something enough that you are willing to step outside your boundaries, every single time.

See the attention that is poured into making each sword. For such immersion, there must be an intrinsic motivation, a deep love for your work.

Though from two completely different fields, both these folks above are united by their passion for their work. Does it mean that you cannot enter flow doing something you hate? No, but love makes it much easier. In fact, if you can start inducing flow for the things you do not like, you have already mastered the art of living (there wouldn’t be anything you would hate at that point 😉).
